Wall·E

I just went and watched Pixar’s “Wall·E”.

It’s great. It’s simply great. Simplistic characters, but yet integrity to both. Funny, charming, and alarming in some places (looking at the immoblised, fat human race makes me worry; because we’re nearing that anyway).

Seeing how desecrated the world is at the beginning of the film, and seeing it slowly repopulate at the end, you realise the fragility of what is at stake; are we doing enough?
It seems that all the efforts are futile, but yet we can make a difference at least. The worst damage is done, time will heal, if left to do its job.

There’s hope for the future; but every day this hope grows slimmer until we achieve 0% waste. You know, if the world keeps going at its current rate, chances of survival will decrease exponentially.

We’re not even doing the job we were originally intended to do; how do I explain this?
Well, if you’re like me, and you’re a Christian, no doubt you’ve probably read Genesis. You know, Adam had a task; look after the Earth. Look after the animals. Look after the plants.

And now look at us; we fill huge areas of land with rubbish. We could at least compact it, or convert it into fuel somehow.

Hey, an idea.

Turn landfills into biofuel. It should be possible, considering the amount of burnable waste. Some landfill waste could be converted to fertilizers, help growing things, I don’t know.

I’m no activist. But it’s food for thought, all the same.
